Gemma's Donnelly's Story

"My name is Gemma Donnelly and I am a former Whitehall student. I graduated with a three year Musical Theatre Diploma. Since leaving I have performed in musicals such as My Fair Lady as Eliza Doolittle, Fiddler on the Roof as Hoddle, Hairspray as Lou-Anne and the Rocky Horror Show as Janet, I was also part of the European tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. When I started at Whitehall I had little to no confidence in my dance ability. I feel I was given the attention that not only made me the dancer I am today but laid the stepping stones for all my future work. My weaknesses were strengthened which gave me the confidence to go for auditions that I would never have considered. I was sent to a London singing coach where I learnt techniques I am still using today and I feel privileged to be able to return to the college to pass on things that I have learnt from the performance world. I was surrounded by truthful caring teachers who I could and can still trust. I still contact Whitehall to ask for career advice when I have been in a position where I have had to choose between two show contracts.
Without Whitehall I would never have been living my dream to perform and I would happily encourage any new students to join and have the wonderful experience that I have had."
