Whitehall was one of the first colleges to be awarded ISTD Approved Dance Centre status. The Foundation in Dance Instruction (optional) course is a 1 year modular course available in Modern, Tap and Ballet. Module 1 Teaching Skills Unit 1 Observation & Practice of Learning Techniques Module 2 Teaching Theory Unit 2 Promotion of Health and Safety in Dance Unit 3 Life Stage Development & Learning in Dance Module 3 Dance Practice Unit 4 Dance Practice within a Chosen Dance Genre Unit 6 Background to a Chosen Dance Genre In addition to this, and following on from the above course, the student may wish to progress on to the Certificate in Dance Education, which is also a 1 year course and is open to existing teachers of dance who wish to acquire this new qualification.
